A high school diploma or GED no longer comes with the opportunities it once did in this country. Today’s students are being asked to compete in an increasingly automated and educated labor market where postsecondary certificates and degrees are a critical asset, but making the transition from high school to postsecondary education can be difficult for students without a support network in place and a toolbox of skills and experiences that prepares them to navigate systems after high school. Low-income, first generation, and students of color are disproportionately impacted by barriers and challenges that can occur during the transition to postsecondary. In the Puget Sound Region, there is a strong commitment to addressing this unacceptable opportunity gap.
